GETTING TO KNOW DR. DAVIS

Christian Davis is a licensed clinical psychologist in New York and New Jersey. His practice delivers cognitive-behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior-informed therapy to children, adolescents and adults.  He also provides Sport Psychology (i.e., peak performance, mental skills training, etc.) services to athletes of all ages. 

Dr. Davis earned his B.A. in Psychology from the College of Staten Island, his M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and his Graduate Certificate in Sport Psychology from John F. Kennedy University.  He also received extensive training in play therapy from the Play Therapy Institute.  Dr. Davis completed his APA-Accredited Internship and Post-Doctoral training at the Institute for Living/Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut.

Over the years, he has provided individual, family and group therapy for children, teens, and adults, in outpatient settings, therapeutic schools, partial hospital programs, and both medical and psychiatric inpatient units. Dr. Davis has helped develop programming to address social skills, parent training, and coping skills. Further, he has worked on performance issues and mental skill building with NCAA Division I and III student-athletes as individuals, teams, mixed-sport groups, and also with coaches.

Prior to starting private practice, Dr. Davis provided clinical services for adolescents and families in a New York State (NYS) psychiatric inpatient unit.  He continued to provide CBT, and completed extensive and intensive training and supervision in DBT by Treatment Implementation Collaborative, LLC.  Dr. Davis was the DBT leader for the children and youth programs, certified trainer for the NYS behavioral skill/crisis intervention program, and assistant team leader.  Dr. Davis currently is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the New Jersey Psychological Association (NJPA), PSYPACT and the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). He has also completed all requirements for his Certified Mental Performance Consultant® certification administered by the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP)
and Canadian Sport Psychology Association (CSPA)Sport Psychology.
